![]() I like the feature set & certain workflow aspects, but there are other things that are something of a show stopper for me. Logic makes all of this far easier at the moment and I continue to have a love/hate relationship with Cubase. I also seem to recall that some of the Synapse synths (Dune/Obsession/Legend) were either/or and not universal. The Spitfire player stuff is a complete pain in the ass because it is not Universal Binary and you can't easily switch back and forth between native and Rosetta hosts. We are getting there but it is slow going. All of the newer versions of the Liquidsonics/Reverb Foundry plugins are Universal Binaries and work perfectly in Cubase 12 here in native mode. I am puzzled by Mike's comment that Seventh Heaven doesn't work. Some are VST3 but Intel only at this point (VSL) and some are native but VST2 (UAD, although the UADx Spark stuff is native and VST3) The Cubase 12 situation is very restrictive - plugins have to be native VST3.Cubase does not use the Apple provided bridge since they refuse to use AU plugins. As far as I know, no DAW does their own bridge, hence why Intel VST plugins don't work unless the entire DAW is in Rosetta. This is what Logic, Studio One, Bitwig and others use. Apple provides an Intel/ARM bridge for AU plugins.VST3, 2 AU, AAX etc etc)Ĥ27 are intel 64 only, 80 are intel 32/intel 64 only, and 1157 offer both intel64 and apple.Ĭlick to expand.Excellent summary. Of 1664 plugins installed (lots are multi-platform. Just looking at my current install (the WONDERFUL plugininfo is your friend) : Some plugs installed under one system (native) - even if they have a intel 64 installation, will require some effort to get working under both systems (cough spitfire cough).Īh for everything be native. Certainly not Cubase/Nuendo.Īnd another caveat. Logic is the only DAW I've used that does this. With the Caveat that some DAWS in native mode have a wrapper that allows non-native (intel 64) based plugs to show up and work. These will show up in both modes of your DAW. These will not show up in a DAW that is opened in native mode. Some install for Rosetta 2 only (also known as Intel 64). Those will not show up in a DAW thats opened in Rosetta. Some plugs install for apple native only.
